Ok, so it's been a while. I've been on vacation, but more of that later. For now, i just wanted to describe my day so far.
Today--first day back at work. Boss called last week to say there was a training session first thing this morning at the Orpheum. Asked me if i wanted to meet at sky train station. Told her no, was going to drive part way, park and walk the rest.
Went out to car. Deader than a doornail (and wtf is a doornail anyway?).
Considered going back inside saying 'fuck it, i'll take a vacation day'. Decided to walk to the Orpheum instead ("it's not that far"). Started walking. Forgot phone. Went back for phone. Walked 25 minutes in pissing rain, arriving at theatre on time, but incredibly sweaty. Sat through grueling 2 1/2 hour presentation on how to host the world at the Olympic Games, including a 45 minute lecture on how to deal with "people with disabilities" (hint--don't call them cripples). Got in 45 minute line-up to get uniform for said hosting duties. Got uniform, stepped outside, realized two packs of complimentary bus tickets were missing. Went back, cut in line, signed for tickets. Hopped on sky train back to office. Began reading 87 emails received while off work.
Tried on uniform. Couldn't zip up jacket, pants came up to armpits, were 3 inches too short and made breathing and eating impossible. Sigh. Emailed uniform people. Got on web to figure out how to take transit home after work---then remembered another training session to attend at VGH from 5:30-7:30pm. Discovered that it will take 30 minutes to travel 3km on bus to get home. Put head on desk and cried.
Walked to training session. Managed to get a ride home (yay!). Asked neighbour to jump start car. Wouldn't start. Another neighbour came out. Got car started after 10 minutes. Went for aimless one hour drive to charge battery. Got home, thought that putting bus tickets in purse would be a good idea in case car won't start tomorrow---no tickets. Gone. Lost 'em.
It's 10pm, haven't eaten since noon. Nothing to eat in house but cereal. Sigh (again).
Good night. Tomorrow is another day.
